Mogadishu — Somalia’s security forces have imprisoned at least 40 people suspected to have links with Al shabab in the riverside district of Afgoye during wash out security operations in the last 24-hours, residents said.

Officials said the suspects, in their twenties are at the moment held at detention centres in the town for questioning over Al shabab connection by the Somali police.

Police sources say the operations will continue as the peace and security are maintained in Afgoye and its nearby villages entirely, to give the locals for reliable protection.

Somali and AU forces captured the town which is just 30 Km north-west Mogadishu from Al shabab early this year, giving access the humanitarian aid to deliver 400,000 of internally displaced people (IDPs) at sprawling camps in the corridor.
