A young girl named Imtiyaz is living in a horrible situation under the care of an old blind grandmother in Yaqshiid district of Mogadishu. The girl is said to be neglected by the family of her mother except grandmother, and her father’s side has been threatening to be killed if they get close to the girl.
The child’s parents fled the country sometimes back in 2015 and 2017 respectively living her under the care of the grandmother of her mother’s family side.
A witness reported to Daafeet Media that the parents from the mother side were against the marriage of their daughter to the girl’s father. It is alleged that the parents approached their clan militia and Al-Shabaab militant groups to assassinate the father and the mother. They claim that their marriage was against the willing of the mother’s parents, therefore, it’s illegal, and so they must get rid of them.
The mother of the young girl, Idil Omar Ahmed is said to have originated from the majority clan while the father to the child, Abdikadir Mohamed Aden is from the minority clan. The minority clan is shunned and treated with a lot of disrespect in the Somali society.
The parents of the girl’s father had equally warned their son against interfering with that family but he ignored and impregnated the wife M/s. Omar and that is where their problem started. The parents are afraid of getting in touch with the young girl for fear of this majority family and also threats to their life by militia group.
The child’s mother, Idil Omar Ahmed, managed to flee out of the country due to constant threats coming from her brothers and whole family who disliked her marriage and her daughter whom they claimed was born from an inferior family. M/s. Omar had no any other option but to escape the militia groups, leaving her daughter behind in a desperate situation with her blind grandmother.
It is alleged that the father to the child whose name is said to be Abdikadir Mohamed Aden disappeared from the country and his whereabouts is not known.
The five years old girl, Imtiyaz faces a lot of difficulties and luck of care as witnesses informed to Daafeet Media. The source added that the girl’s hands and legs ties with a rope as not to go far from the blind grandmother.
